Decisive meeting with Luis Enrique
Real Madrid's veteran defender Sergio Ramos is preparing for intense talks with Spain coach Luis Enrique about his position this summer.
Ramos' position is not yet clear, whether to participate with Spain in Euro 2020 this summer, or the Olympic Games in Tokyo.
The player wants to participate in both tournaments, but it seems difficult after the difficult season he went through and the number of injuries he suffered.
Is Ramos announces a surprise?
Javier de la Peña, a journalist with the Spanish "El Chiringuito" program, confirmed that Ramos might give up participating in the Euro for the Olympics. He explained that the veteran defender will meet with Spain's first coach, Luis Enrique, next Sunday to finally settle the situation.
The first thing Enrique wants to know is the physical condition of Ramos after his recent injuries with Real Madrid.
He pointed out that the scheduled meeting between the two could lead to Ramos giving up the euro to play with the Olympic team in the Tokyo Olympics.
With whom is Spain playing in the Euro and the Olympics?
Spain is in a mid-range group with Sweden, Poland and Slovakia in Group V of the competition.
On the other hand, the 23-year-old national team, which may include Ramos among the over-age players, plays with Egypt, Argentina and Australia in the third group of Olympic soccer competitions.
Ball competitions in the Olympics start from July 22 to August 7 with the participation of 16 teams, while the Euro takes place from June 11 to July 11.
